Brocken Spectres : From The Slate Lands of North Wales

brocken spectre: (German Brockengespenst), also called ‘brocken bow’ or ‘mountain spectre’, the apparently huge, magnified shadow thrown by a climber on high ground looking downwards into the mist or cloud with a low sun behind. The head of the figure is often surrounded by the glowing halo-like rings of a ‘glory’: rings of coloured, diffracted light.

This work dedicated to the slate men and women of North Wales.
